Lab trip to Dublin (ECI meeting 2024)

Members of our lab had a great trip to the European Congress of Immunology, which was held at the Convention Centre Dublin from Sep 1 - Sep 4. Scientifically, we were well rewarded with great talks on obesity, sex differences, allergies, immunometabolism.

Jule presented her first poster on her studies on immune cell functionality in people living with obesity.

Viviane presented her work on sex-differences during obesity, which was also extensively discussed during the poster session.

Lea also did a great job with her poster on the impact of obesity on type 2 immune responses in vivo.

Overall a successful trip!

Two new team members

We welcome Lea and Inaya into our group. Lea and Inaya will tackle wound healing responses during obesity. Lea just finished her M.Sc. in Lübeck. Inaya joins us from Prof. Lührmann's lab for her PostDoc. We're very happy to work together!

FAU Junior Group Leader

Proud to be appointed an FAU Junior Research Group Leader by Prof. Hornegger. This allows me to officially supervise PhD students and take part in the FAUnext career programme.

BMBF-funded project

We are extremely happy that our project "Obesity Impairs Antimicrobial Responses and Tissue Repair (ImpAcT)" was selected for funding through the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). With this project, we aim to improve our understanding of why overweight and obesity leads to an impaired wound healing response.

We escaped...

...briefly from the lab and managed to break out of the escape room in Nürnberg. Fantastic team work and we're looking forward to another challenge!
